See if it feels right in your hands when hold it
I started with Ibanez GRX20 at first.. it’s only $150 and very good at this price
Alright, buying an electric guitar is hard… To me it’s like buying a new car, going to a very well respected college, Hell, it’s even like trying to figure out a name for a new born child, it just has to click. First thing is first, do some research, and know your budget. But the question I want to ask what type of music are you looking to play? Are you wanting to play punk, rock, metal, country, thrash, grunge, or perhaps indie? Here are some websites to help so you can find what’s most appealing to you and what you can or can’t afford that’s in your budget. http://www.guitarcenter.com, http://www.samash.com, wwwmusic123.com, http://www.americanmusicalsupply.com ..
Punk-
Squire
Fender
Epiphone
Gibson
Metal-
Epiphone
Fender
Gibson
Jackson
Dean
ESP * This is my personal favorite brand/company always have been very dependable guitars *
Shcecter
Washburn
Ibanez * Not really digging the company but it’s just opinion based, you may like them *
Rock-
Gibson
ESP
Jackson
Fender
Epiphone
Dean
Squire
Country-

I mean those are just brand name companies to give you a feel on what you want to play and what type of music.
Now to every good guitar there always has to be a good amp, I play metal, thrash, death metal, metal core, punk, rock, alternative, blues, jazz, just whatever I feel at the time, because it’s always good to learn more outside of the genre you play to make something amazing that no one has created.
the amp I use is called a Ibanez TBX150R which runs about $500, but it does what I need, they have other low ones which run anywhere from $30-$1000 bucks, but even the $30 TBX15R sounds just as awesome as mine and the other big TBX’s, only difference is the watts.. That’s it, just how much louder the other one is..
Another good company alot of people are liking alot is Line 6.. I personally don’t like line 6 BUT! This is what I do like about them, it’s the fact that you can get your favorite artist’s sound.. And there’s alot of built in effects like, phasers, wah wah, delay, choped delay, reverb the count is limited but makes it work. Which also means you don’t have to get alot of different effect pedals for like… 4 certain sounds you like to use.
But some other brands that makes amps..
Gibson
Marshal
Krank *Krank makes THE BEST metal amps*
Ibanez
Fender
Squire
Berhinger
and some others I can’t really think of right now..
but I really hope this helps go to those websites I listed and look for what you want go into the stores find it, and play it ill you find the right guitar that feels amazing, plays amazing, and has an amazing sound you’re looking for. same goes for the amps, but most important you must read THE REVIEWS from other customers.
Sangin.
the cost of the guitar depends what type your getting, theres many different guitars out there. if you’re just getting a standard one then it should be between $100-$400 or so. it also depends if its brand new or used. some good brands i recommend are Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, and MusicMan.
heres some things to look at when you’re buying a guitar:
first of all, its a lot better to buy one at a guitar store rather than online.
turn the tuning pegs a couple of times. if they turn to easily or they dont turn very well it could be a problem when tuning your guitar.
also look at the strings to see if they’re not too hard or too soft or anything like that.
another thing is to look at the design and shape of the guitar. if you like it, try it out. it’s important to have good contact with your guitar. you should also play it a little bit and see if it feels comfortable and see if it has a good sound.
Theres plenty of things to consider when getting your first guitar.
Go to a music shop. If you go to a big one, like Guitar Center, the salesmen will be up your *** trying to sell you ****.
Tell them to go away and youll call them if you need anything.
Now go find a guitar.Just grab a few that you think you would like, sit down with them (1 at a time) and feel them.
Play it unplugged first.
See if it sounds good that way.
Now on the technical side, the important parts are the hardware and construction. make sure the tuners are tight, if its a bolt on neck, see if its seated well or it will kill sustain.
look at the pickups, what configuration are they?
Humbuckers? single coils? or a mix?
look up the difference yourself and see what you would prefer.
Now is the bridge shaky?
The VERY most important part
is the neck
Feel it first
Is the back profile too thin? or too thick?
Both are bad.
Now run your finger down the side of the neck where the frets are on the bottom side. If the frets feel sharp, put that guitar dow and walk away.
if they’re good continue.
play on the highest and lowest strings.
can you reach the thickest?
At the last fret?
How bout the thinnest string?
Determine if it has good upper fret access and that you can play all over comfortably.
Plug it in
if your not a very good player you might not want to play in the store around others, play quietly if it bugs you.
play through something similar to what you have
if you like it
leave and see if its cheaper online
first thing ull wanna do is rip off the stock strings there allways nasty, buy a set of ernie ball slinky gauge 9s or 10s
the pickups, do you want humbuckers or single coild
the neck is it straight, has it warped forward, this is what many of the cheaper guitars do, if it hass ull kinw because theyll be a lot more room bretween the strings and neck at the pickups than at the headstock end of the neck
make sure each of the tuners are seperate and not a bar
check the controlls and stwiches are tight and to loose or floppy
hey i got the same question if you get any good answers post them here.http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
Get a Gibson and you will not be disappointed, greatest guitars made on Earth.
