What Questions Should I Ask When Buying An Electric Guitar?
I have been looking around and reading up on guitars, and I have borrowed my cousins for now. When I buy a guitar, what questions should I ask. I’m buying my first electric guitar, but I have played the violin for 8 years. A person at a store told me I shouldn’t get a beginner guitar because I have musical experience. and where do you think I should buy the guitar ( ex. Guitar Center, etc… ) Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the sale person is trying to upsell you. If you are just starting you do not need an expensive guitar. I would recommend an Epiphone. Epiphone is make by Gibson – the premier electric guitar maker and they start under $100. John Lennon and George Harrison both played an Epiphone – even after they were famous. The models they played are about $350 today. If it’s good enough for The Beatles . . . ! In fact, John Lennon is playing his Epiphone in the movie Let It Be during the rooftop concert.
buy a begginer. Ask if the store has lessons.
Sounds like you’ve already done some homework on your search. The best thing you can do is to read reviews on the particular guitar you’re interested in. There are numerous web sites to do that. Just type in (example)” les paul jr. reviews” into the search bar. At the music store try the guitar and see how it feels to you and always ask what their return policy is in case you change your mind. Also be sure to ask if it’s a b-stock guitar (most have impairments of some kind). Hope this helps!
