Is There Anything I Should Do After Buying A New Guitar Before Playing It?

I just bought a new guitar off a trusted online website. My old guitar was given to me so I’m not sure what next. I have been told that I have to tweak it and such before playing, I just have not been told how. Also is there anything else? Like should I use fretboard conditioner on it? Anything you can think of would be helpful.

There’s nothing you can do to tweak it unless you hear what it sounds like when you play it. Obviously, you can change your strings if they’re old and rusty, you can polish your guitar down, but other than that, you really have to play the guitar to see if you need to tweak it. If if does need to be tweaked, and since you don’t know how, bring it to a specialist. However, if somebody says it sounds great (or not) already, it’s their taste. You need to have it tweaked to your taste.
If it is a new guitar there isn’t really much required. Just tune the guitar and apart from that you are good to go.
You can go to your local music store and ask them if you should do any guitar care work but I think it should be fine.
Hope this helps
well.. first definitely tune it.. if it has too much buzzing or it’s really hard to the strings down then you’ll have to mess with the truss rod which you probably won’t if you just bought it… and maybe wipe the strings down a bit i guess if you don’t want dirt all over your fingers…
