I am a beginner but have played a couple time and really like it. Which one has the best sons so far? Also, how do you download additional songs?

I would say research each of the games and see what song list appeals to you more. Or wait a few days for World Tour to come out and get the newest one. Downloading additional songs is easy but (except for the free ones) you need to buy microsoft points to get them. Once you are in the game you connect online and download them.
In my opinion, Guitar Hero 2 has the better setlist. However, Guitar Hero 3 has more downloadable content available and allows two players to play head-to-head online. Don’t get Guitar Hero: Aerosmith or Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s; they have fewer songs and are generally considered expansions to Guitar Hero 3 and 2, respectively.
You may want to buy Guitar Hero: World Tour, which is coming out soon. That will probably have even more eventual DLC and the potential for full band play.
You can download additional songs from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. It can be accessed through the dashboard or from in-game.
The Guitar Hero III bundle would be best. Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock is pretty good. They all have good songs, but this one has some of the classic favourites – Barracuda and Paint it Black.
To download additional songs, I’m not really sure. You can buy the downloadable song packs, they’re around $180.
get guitar hero world tour when it comes out. its going to have drums guitar and microphone. It has the biggest setlist and has many cool new features. To download songs you have to go to the music store on the game menu and a screen will pop up with songs i dont know how much they will cost but i know that sometimes they have songs for free download.
You should get GH3 first. It will be the easiest one to adjust to GH4 when it comes out, and it’s got some pretty cool songs.
Of course if you want the drums and microphone gameplay, you may just want to skip on to GH4 when it comes out October 26.
Depends on your musical taste, Guitar hero 2 has mostly modern music and 3 has older stuff like Guns n Roses, Metallica etc. Guitar hero 3 comes with a wireless guitar though which may sway you. You can download songs from the xbox live marketplace.
dont know about additional songs but i like guitar hero 2 better than 3 …so i would get guitar hero 2
i say 3 has the best songs but i prefer rock band to guitar hero they have a lot better songs and it is easier to play
