I want to learn how to play the guitar and am looking to buy one. I have found guitars in the price range of $100-$200. Will these guitars be good enough to learn on or do I need to pay a bit more. I am completely clueless when it comes to buying a guitar
and also what different types of acoustic guitars are there and what is the difference?
please help me.

you’re gonna love playing the guitar (:
firstly cost isn’t particularly important,
it’s mainly the sound quality you’re looking for.
You have to find a guitar that’s your size,
and whether you prefer nylon (plastic) or steel strings.
For a beginner, i’d start off with the nylon, because steel strings (doesn’t happen usually) may cut the tips of your fingers, since you’re beginning to learn the guitar.
Different types of guitars can be, acoustic, semi-acoustic or electric.
acoustic is just your ordinary guitar which cannot be amplified. Semi-acoustic can be amplified or not, and can be built in with a tuner, volume, bass etc. And the electric guitar is obviously a thinner and heavier instrument.
That’s a good enough price range. Good guitars start off at the $100 mark and only go up from there.
There are two main categories of acoustics:
-Acoustics
-Acoustic/electric
Acoustics are just guitars that can’t be plugged into an amp, while acoustic/electric’s are guitars that have the best of both worlds. You can plug it into an amp or just leave it as is. These guitars also have a built in tuner on the body, which is neat. Both types of guitars have steel strings.
There are also sub-categories (ie. dreadnoughts) but that’s not important.
When you go down to the music store, have an employee help you out. Try out different acoustics to see which one you like. You want the guitar to feel comfortable to hold, as well as technical stuff such as how long does the sound last and all that.
i have an ovation guitar that i use to learn social distortion songs on. i think that it is awesome! no complaits, and i paid, uhm, 150 for in a pawn shop;s.
just borrow one from a friend or pick up a cheap one at the pawn shop.
